Design Principles

Content before Looks

The foremost task for a webpage is to present information. If the information does not come across, the page fails. Therefore graphics and layout must always be subordinate to the content of the page, they must display not obscure it. Of course I try to create a pleasing layout and design for a page, but where content and looks clash, looks have to go.

Accessibility

I do not focus on one particular browser when creating a website and keep older computers and monitors in mind. Not everyone uses the latest browser technology, a 21" monitor, and broadband internet access. Therefore I strive to keep file sizes manageable and technological frills like Javascript or Flash to a minimum. I also pay attention to the navigation structure of the website and the readability of all text.

HTML

I do not feel limited by the restrictions HTML places on design and layout. It was made for displaying information on the web and I use its strength to my advantages. This means I do not have complete control over the layout of the pages and their look may vary across different platforms, but at the same time it ensures that almost everybody will at least be able to access the information contained within.

The "Förderkreis Therapeutisches Reiten" is a German association that trains riding therapists and generally supports therapeutic work with horses.

IGL (Institut für ganzheitliche Lerntherapie und Familienberatung) is a small therapeutic center for children in my hometown.

Jhendor

Jhendor is my personal homepage where I present the material for my roleplaying hobby. It contains material on the imaginary world of Jhendor, rpg adventures and many maps done with Campaign Cartographer 2.
